SuperStation95 is a small editorial operation based in Spanish Fort, Alabama, with contributors working remotely across several time zones. The work is research heavy and format driven. We care more about whether a writer can read a fare rule accurately than about how many destinations they have visited.

Most of what we publish is reference material that somebody will open in a hurry, often on a phone, often while something has already gone wrong. That shapes the job. Sentences have to survive being read once, quickly, by a tired person. Writers who enjoy that constraint tend to like it here. Writers who want lyrical destination essays usually do not.

There is no content quota. A guide is finished when it is verified, not when it hits a schedule, and we would rather delay a piece by a week than publish a threshold we could not source.

Who we hire

Roles vary, but the profiles we return to are consistent.

• Travel researchers who enjoy primary sources and are comfortable writing that a rule is ambiguous rather than guessing.
• Editors who can cut an introduction in half without losing meaning, and who argue about structure before style.
• Fact checkers with airline, airport, rail or regulatory experience, including former ground staff and cabin crew.
• Accessibility-minded front end contributors on a project basis, comfortable with React, TypeScript and semantic markup.
• Photographers and photo editors who can supply original, non-stock editorial imagery from real locations.

How we work

Every guide belongs to one of four desks, one per Station, and each desk owns its subject area end to end: the outline, the draft, the verification pass and the review schedule that keeps it current.

A commission starts with a question a reader actually asked. The writer produces an outline, we agree the scope and the rate, and the draft is then fact checked against carrier conditions, airport operator notices and published regulation before it goes anywhere near the site. If something cannot be traced to a source, it is cut or clearly framed as a general pattern.

Feedback is direct and structural. We will ask for a rewrite of a section rather than nudging adjectives, and we say why.

Current openings

The library now runs to thirty nine in-depth guides across the four Stations and continues to grow towards a target of ninety five. We take on contributors as that programme expands, usually on a per-article commission rather than a salaried basis.

There are no formal vacancies posted at this moment. Speculative applications are genuinely read and kept on file for six months, and several of our regular contributors joined that way.

How to apply

Send a short message through the contact page choosing the general enquiry topic. Include two writing samples and one paragraph explaining a travel rule you think is commonly misunderstood, and why the common version of it is wrong.

Please do not send a portfolio link with no context, and please do not send generative text you have not verified yourself. We reply to every application, usually within two weeks.

• Two samples, published or unpublished, ideally non-fiction and non-promotional.
• One paragraph on a misunderstood travel rule.
• A note on which Station you would want to write for and why.
• Your availability and preferred rate range.

What we offer

Terms are agreed in writing before any work begins.

• Clear editorial standards and a defined house style, given to you up front.
• Fair per-article rates agreed before commissioning, paid on acceptance rather than on publication.
• A byline and a visible review date on your work.
• Credit retained on updates, with the original author offered the revision first.
• No content quotas and no obligation to write about anything you cannot verify.

Internships and first-time writers

We take a small number of paid research placements each year, aimed at people who want to learn verification rather than voice. The work is mostly source tracing, checking published figures against primary documents and flagging what has changed since the last review.

It is unglamorous and it is the single best training for this kind of publishing. Placements are remote, part time and always paid.
